What is Cosmic Racing?

Hi, I’m Emma Schwab. Founder of Cosmic Endurance and Cosmic Racing. The past few years I’ve been working to climb the ranks in the UCI MTB XCO scene. My first big year of racing UCI XCO was in 2023. I was very fortunate to be a part of the GLORI (Great Lakes Off Road Initiative) race team that I and a few other fast talented locals started. I learned so much that year traveling for UCI XCO races across the country. Racing a very technically challenging course at USAC MTB National Championships and then qualifying for my first ever U23 XCO MTB World Cup in Snowhoe, WV. It was a super challenging year but I knew UCI XCO racing was where my heart was at.

After a slower year in 2024 I knew I wanted to get back into the UCI MTB scene for 2025. That’s when I started Cosmic Racing. A high-performance privateer program focused on elite UCI XCO mtb racing across the country. The 2025 season and first year of Cosmic Racing produced some of my best results yet. I landed on my first UCI podium at the beginning of the year and continued that trend throughout the season. In the summer I made it down to USAC MTB National Championships in Roanoke, VA. This was my first year racing in the elite category at Nationals. It was an honor to line up alongside World Cup Pros and Olympians. I was very excited to take 5th place in both the short track xc race and the xco. But the most special result in 2025 was my 2nd place finish at the Iceman Cometh Challenge in my hometown of Traverse City, MI. I’ve been doing this race ever since I was very young and still on training wheels. For years I would watch the pros finish Iceman and look up to them. It has been a dream of mine to stand on the pro Iceman podium. I had that dream Iceman race in 2025 and couldn’t be more grateful. All the support Cosmic Racing received for the year is what made all of these results possible.

What’s the plan for 2026?

After such a successful first year of Cosmic Racing I’m really excited to keep it going for 2026. I plan to race even more UCI XCO MTB races and have a goal of qualifying to race at the two UCI MTB World Cups in the U.S. One World Cup will be in Soldier Hollow, Utah. And the second at Lake Placid, New York at the end of the year. I’m excited to put my all into another challenging race season. I hope you’ll be a part of it, whether you want to help support the Cosmic Racing program or just follow along on my socials!

What does Cosmic Racing give back to the community?

When I started racing mountain bikes, I had no guidance. There was a lot to learn about different races, bikes, gear, training, skills, maintenance, tactics, and nutrition. It took me years of racing, both good and bad, to learn what I know now. I keep learning every year and want to share my knowledge with the next generation of racers in Traverse City, giving them the guidance I didn’t have.

For 2026 Cosmic Racing will host a few skills camps for the young racers and riders in the Traverse City area. The camps will teach bike handling skills, race tactics, and on bike nutrition. Along with fun games and mock races. Cosmic Racing will also host a group ride every Wednesday out on our favorite local mountain bike trails. The group ride location will change each week so we can explore and enjoy the many miles of mountain bike trails we have.

Dates and locations for skills camps and group rides are TBD
